Can't save or load saved games V.2.04

Hi all,

I just started playing the game recently and had about 25 successful normal saves along with many quick saves.

Unfortunately, I just tried to save a normal game and the game crashes. It just hangs and I have to use the task manager to get out. When I would start up the game again, it would do a small download from Steam before starting again.

My graphics were set on OpenGL and I changed them to DirectX and then the crash still happened but I had to reboot my entire system as I couldn't get out of the game at all but no download at restart.

Strangely the Quick Save functionality is still working fine.

I uninstalled the game, deleted all the save files and reinstalled. I got the same problem.

I'm also on a fairly powerful rig with 16gb of memory and running Windows 8.1 if that helps at all.

I'm playing on hardcore so it's fairly tough to get through the game at all let alone with only 1 save slot. Any help or ideas as to how to fix the issue would be greatly appreciated.

The problem occurs always you have 25 save slots used or always?

It seems to be 20 exactly. I've been playing with a bit since I made the post. If I don't exceed 20 named saves plus the auto and quick save it works fine. Not sure why.
